Welcome to the 2010
Post-Season Information Page
The goal of this section is to inform players and their families about the post-season process and to answer frequently asked questions that arise regarding post-season play.
How Are All Star Players Selected?
Any player in the league, who is the appropriate league age and attended regular tryouts, may apply for post-season all star teams. Applications are submitted online. Once the deadline has passed, all applications are provided to the Post Season Director.
For League Age 11 and 12 Players:
The all-star managers and coaches will compile a list of their recommendations for the top 10 players in their prospective age groups. Only players who submit post-season commitment applications are considered for vote. This list will not be shared with anyone other than the DLL president and the post season director.
Players will be asked by the post-season director to select the top 10 players at the level in which they play specifically by age (i.e. 12 year old players may only vote for 12 year players etc). Again, this list only includes the names of players who apply for post-season teams. The post-season director will compile this list and share it with the DLL president and the selected managers and coaches.
Each division will have a manager’s meeting to present players from their teams that they believe should be considered for the post season. The managers will then vote independently for the top 10 players.
** PLEASE NOTE** There will be no weighting system when voting for the top 8 players. The managers will apply a single point system when voting for players.
The post season director will compile this list. From this list the top 8 will receive automatic berths to their respective teams. If these top 8, as picked by the managers, do not include the top 2 selected by the players themselves, the player’s selections will complete the roster up to (8) total players given automatic berths. The all-star coaching staff will select the remaining 4 to 6 additional players.
** PLEASE NOTE** It will be the decision of the all-star managers, their coaches, and the post-season director to determine the remaining selections to the team. The minimum number of players on a team is 12 and the maximum is 14. The all- star coaching staff can only select players that were finalists from the manager’s or player’s selection lists.
For League Age 10 Players:
The same process is followed as for 11s and 12s; however, there is no player vote at this level.
For Leage Age 9 Players:
If you are a League Age 9 player and attended regular season tryouts, you will be invited to a "tryout" on June 6, 2010. Managers and post-season committee select the players for these two teams.
When Is the Application Deadline?
All applications must be submitted online no later than May 14, 2010.
What is the difference between the District and Tournament Team?
District All Star teams will require 100% availability as follows:
League Age 12: From June 16, 2010 through August 30, 2010.
League Age 10-11: From June 16 through July 31, 2010.
Any player whose family has vacation plans between these dates may not apply for the DISTRICT team.
The DLL Tournament teams will be more flexible and take extra players on their rosters as needed.
When Do Practices and Games Begin?
Mandatory practice for District All Star teams will begin on June 16th and could be every day prior to the beginning of the District 57 Tournament, July 1st.
District All Star team games will continue for the month of July and could go into mid August .
DLL Tournament teams will begin practice around the same date in June and will start tournaments as early as June 20 and play through the month of July.
Are All League Age 9 Players Eligible?
To be eligible for selection to any All star team, the player must have attended the regular season tryouts in January 2010. League age 9’s that attended a regular tryout are invited to tryout for one of the two league age 9 tournament teams on Sunday, June 6th, Osage #2 at 1:00 pm.
When is the All Star Picnic?
The All Star picnic and team picture event is on June 18th. Invitations will issue to all players once team selections are announced on June 15th.
What Are the Fees for Participation?
All fees for District All Star and DLL Tournament teams are due at the time the teams are announced and are non-refundable.
FEES WILL BE APPROXIMATELY $90 PER PLAYER PLUS THE COST OF TOURNAMENTS. (For example, 4 tournaments @$500 per tournament/per team/12 players per team would be $41.50 per player X 4 = $166.) Plan to pay at least $175 for tournament entry fees plus the league player fee of $90.
What Documentation is Required?
Original birth certificates and 3 proofs of residency are required no later than the 18th of June for the District All Star teams only. (These documents will be returned after verification by District 57 by the end of June).
Are There Any Additional Requirements?
Families from the all of the all star teams are expected by the league to be available to help with our summer tournaments. Volunteer sign up sheets will be available at the All Star picnic and team picture event on the 18th of June.
